Chicago, Illinois, Soviet Union to block Trump’s National Guard deployment Filmywapp

Illinois leaders blocked President Donald Trump from sending the National Guard to Chicago in court on Monday, escalating conflict between Democratic-led state and Republican governments amid active immigration enforcement actions in the country’s third-largest city.
The legal challenge was hours after the judge blocked the guard from deploying in Portland, Oregon.
Under the administration’s crackdown on illegal immigration, the Trump administration portrays cities as war-torn and illegal acts. Officials in Illinois and Oregon said no military intervention is needed and federal involvement is infuriating the situation.
“President Trump’s long-standing progress on “war” against Chicago and Illinois is illegal and dangerous,” the lawsuit said.
“No matter where they live, the American people should not live under the threat of occupation by the U.S. military, especially because their city or national leadership has been distinguished by the president’s support,” the lawsuit said.
Governor: The federal wave is an “invasion”
Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker, a Democrat, said about 300 state guards will be deployed by the federal government and to Chicago, as well as 400 from Texas.
Pritzker said the potential deployment constituted a “Trump invasion” and he called on Republican Texas Governor Greg Abbott to stop it. Abbott pushed back and said crackdowns needed to protect federal workers as part of the president’s increased immigration enforcement.
White House spokesman Abigail Jackson confirmed in a statement over the weekend that Trump authorized the use of Illinois National Guard members on the grounds that she called “ongoing violent riots and illegal acts” that local leaders did not calm down.
In Chicago, the arrests of armed patrol personnel from armed border patrol personnel near famous landmarks have disturbed people under the immigrant crackdown that began last month. Agents target weight immigrants and most Latino areas.
Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson said Monday he signed an executive order prohibiting federal immigration agents and others from using city-owned properties such as parking lots, garages and vacant lots as staging areas for law enforcement actions.
Mayor limits protest time on ice net
Protesters often gather near immigration facilities outside the city, and federal officials reported arrests of 13 protesters near the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement Building in Broadview on Friday. Mayor Katrina Thompson cited safety and other factors, she said she limits protests to 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Elsewhere in the area, the Department of Homeland Security acknowledged that agents shot a woman in Southwest Chicago on Saturday. The department said it happened after Border Patrol agents patrolled the area were “hit by vehicles and packed in 10 vehicles.”
Chicago Police Chief Larry Snelling said it was reasonable for agents to think they were being ambushed.
Portland says there is no crime crisis there
In Portland, U.S. District Judge Karin Immergut approved temporary restraining orders sought by Oregon and California to prevent guards deployed from those states to cities.
Imergut, who Trump appointed in his first term, seemed incredible that the president moved to the National Guard to send Oregon from neighboring California and then sent the first ruling against it from Texas on Sunday for several hours.
“Didn’t the defendant just evade my order?” she said. “Why is this suitable?”
Local officials suggest that the president’s claims about Portland and social media posts appear to rely on images since 2020. Five years later, the city has reduced crime, while homeless camps and more crowds are growing in the city center.
There were ongoing and low-level protests outside the Portland ice rink, but it was less destructive than the 2020 downtown conflict when it broke out after the killing of George Floyd.
Data shows that most violent crimes across the United States have actually declined in recent years compared to the same period in 2024, including Portland, which saw homicides fall by 51% to 17 from January to June this year.
Since the start of the second term, Trump has sent or talked about sending troops to 10 cities, including Baltimore. Memphis, Tennessee; District of Columbia; New Orleans; and California cities in Oakland, San Francisco and Los Angeles.
A federal judge said in September that the administration “willfully” violated federal law by deploying guard forces to Los Angeles to protest immigration attacks.
