Zurich Film Festival winner: Slovakian Oscar contender “Father” Filmywapp
Zurich Film Festival distributed its highest award on Saturday, Slovakian director Tereza Nvotová Father Winning the Golden Eyes of Best Feature Film, Zurich-based filmmaker Moris Freiburghaus with I love you, I leave you.
FatherThis is an entry for the 2026 Oscar Race of Slovak, which premiered in Venice. Based on a true story, it will play Milan Ondrík as the titular father in the story, a decent man whose life becomes out of control due to temporary memory errors and tragedies that lead to it. Intramovies is selling the movie internationally.
The special mention in this section is by Alice Douard Evidence of love ((love letter) and left-handed girls of Xiching Tsou. The latter co-written and produced aor Director Sean Baker is the official Oscar contender in Taiwan. Netflix has this movie for most parts of the world.
I love you, I leave you It is the first Swiss film to win a festival documentary award. Freiburghaus’s film follows his best friend, fighting a manic plot for a year. Special mention of the granted to Yrsa Roca Fannberg The ground under our feet and Namir Abdel Messeeh Life after Siham.
The jury of ZFF critics consists of film writers from Switzerland, Germany and the UK The memories of the princess of Mumbai As the best Swiss movie on the show, there is a special mention of Freiburghaus I love you, I leave you.
Benjamin Heisenberg mischief Wins ZFF’s Children’s Jury Award and ZFF’s Children’s Audience Award. Freiburghaus’s documentary also won the Overall Audience Award, while Abdel Messeeh’s Life after Siham Winner of the Zurich Church’s Film Award.
Additional honors include the Mikal Grigorowitsch Award for Best International Film Music.
The winner of the 21st Zurich Festival was announced at the end of Saturday night.
