“Creativity is and should be people-oriented,” Sag-Aftra, who slammed the newly launched AI talent studio in a statement released Tuesday.

The creators of computer-generated actress Tilly Norwood responded to critics last weekend after news that her studio wanted to get a representative from Norwood.

Dutch founder of AI Outfit Particle 6 Productions announced at the Zurich Film Festival that Xicoia’s launch is “the world’s first AI talent studio.” However, she felt angry and later said in an Instagram post: “She is not a replacement for humanity.”

The American union SAG-AFTRA, which represents actors and other talents, now said through a statement: “The alliance opposes the replacement of human performers through synthesizers.”

“To be clear, “Tilly Norwood” is not an actor, it is a character produced by a computer program, trained by countless professional performers without permission or compensation,” Sag-Aftra said. “It has no life experience borrowed from, no emotions, and nothing we see, and the audience is not interested in watching computer-generated content. It does not solve any “problem”, it does not solve any “problem” – it creates problems in using stolen performances to withdraw actors from work, endanger the life of performers, make the life of performers and belittle human art.”

“In addition, signature producers should be aware that they may not use integrated performers without complying with our contractual obligations, requiring notification and bargaining whenever a synthetic performer is used,” the statement continued.

The dangerous threat of artificial intelligence continues to cause panic in the film and television industry, and the craft rules become a Linchpin clause in the 2023 Sag-aftra strike. Although AI has spanned countless visual effects tools, many people are still worried that AI may one day, or at least replace actors, or replace actors – or use their brand illegally.

Melissa Barrera, Nicholas Alexander Chavez, Lukas Gage, Mara Wilson and Toni Colette are the stars who condemn the news of Norwood’s possible signing.

Van der Velden defended his business on Sunday, saying: “I think AI is not a replacement for people, but a new tool, a new brush. I am an actor myself, nothing – certainly not an AI character – that can deprive humans of the skill or joy of acting…. For me, creating Tilly has always been an act of imagination and craft, unlike the act of playing a role, writing a character or shaping a performance.”
