A Missouri family was saddened by their 8-year-old children a few weeks before his ninth birthday. Cortez Williams Jr.Known as CJ, he died within hours of the collapse of the children’s swing. The St. Louis County Police Department released a report on what happened to CJ on September 22. It cites the date and time of the swing accident as officials in northern counties responded to calls for sick leave service the day before. When they arrive home

According to the press release, they learned in the initial investigation that the 8-year-old CJ was “playing on a backyard swing when it collapsed.” After the scene collapsed, it captured Serena Williams under the bar. The family eventually released the child, reportedly “appearing to have only minor injuries. Later, CJ became unresponsive. After being taken to the hospital, the doctor announced that he was dead.

“They said he was talking, responding, asking for water and eating,” said Williams senior. “What he kept saying was that he wanted to sleep.”

Dad said that when CJ took a nap, his mother gave him something to eat because things got worse after about an hour of Williams’ seniority. When he woke up and walked around, he fell down. Despite this, he was not injured outside and was asking for water and food. “…So they gave him some water, she finished cooking the food, and they said he was quiet for a while.” His father told WUSA9. “Next you know, they said he won’t respond anymore.”

Dad shares information about children and minor injuries

In his interview, it was a point that Cortez Williams Sr. shared an important message with other parents. He warned them to take their children to the hospital to cause “any little thing.”

“The risk of not taking them is…you see the pain I’m in, it’s a bad risk, and I don’t want anyone to have to go through that. I’m doing my best, but it’s hard.”

Sadly, Williams Sr. did not return home in time and saw his son still alive again. “The pain will never go away.” The father told WUSA9. “Because of his age…it’s just something that will never leave.” Dad remembers that when he was 8 years old, he was a happy kid who loved horror movies and food. He looks forward to starting football.

Like Williams Sr., the Consumer Product Safety Commission also issued warnings about home playground equipment, such as the swing suit.
